He routinely deals with agricultural, pharmaceutical and biotechnological inventions, and has litigation experience in patent, trade mark, passing off, and competition law. Antony has been involved in reported IP litigation matters including matters before the Court of the Commissioner of Patents, the Registrar of Trade Marks, the North & South Gauteng High Court, and the South African Supreme Court of Appeal.
Cole has experience in local prosecution and infringement matters and international trade mark prosecution, including conducting registerability searches, filing and prosecuting trade mark applications, drafting infringement opinions, attending to recordals and managing renewals. He also advises clients on brand strategy, brand management and IP portfolio management.
We cater for local clients as well as international clients and are also part of an established network of IP attorneys throughout Africa and the rest of world.
We strive to provide top level services relating to worldwide IP of value that makes business sense for each client.
The firm places strong emphasis on establishment, maintenance and enforcement of IP rights.
The firm handles all aspects of trade mark prosecution and litigation. This adds to our experience in registered designs and copyright to provide well rounded competence in any IP matters.
On the patent’s side, our technical qualifications and experience include mechanics, physics, metallurgy, materials, chemistry, biochemistry, and information technology. While our practice extends to the protection of any invention, we handle a fair amount of work relating to mining and mining machinery, pharmaceuticals, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer and Internet related inventions.
We believe in negotiation rather than litigation to seek win-win solutions to IP disputes. However, if a client’s interests so dictate, we do not hesitate to approach the courts for a final decision. This approach extends to the fields of unlawful competition and passing off, as well as to the remedies available under the Counterfeit Goods Act.
